Blolite achieves its cost-effectiveness and flexibility by separating the network into two discrete elements:
Blolite has numerous advantages over conventional fibre cable, especially in the large network:
Installing Blolite and any fibre needed at the outset (25% of the eventual total according to surveys) can cut first year costs by up to 65% when compared with conventional fibre cable.
Fibre is blown-in to the existing infrastructure with no disruption to existing office space or staff, an impossibility when adding new conventional cable.
The simplest way to do this is to blow new fibre into Blolite Microducts as and when needed. Install spare capacity to allow for this or simply blow out any redundant fibres using compressed air. Investment in the Microduct infrastructure is never lost.
When conventional optical cable suffers damage the entire length mut be replaced or expensive splicing operations performed to effect repair. If Blolite microducts are damaged it is a simple matter of push-fitting a new length using Brand-Rex pneumatic connectors and blowing in new fibre from the comfort of the equipment room.
